Background
Gitgit Waterfall (Air Terjun Gitgit) is located in Gitgit Village, Sukasada District, in Buleleng Regency, northern Bali, roughly 10 km from Singaraja and about 70-83 km from Denpasar. It stands around 35 meters tall.
To reach the waterfall, visitors walk a trail from the parking area down through lush tropical jungle, past plantations (coffee, clove) and some small shops. The walk is moderate in difficulty and takes around 10-20 minutes depending on which waterfall point you aim for.

Why It’s Worth Visiting
• The scenery is lush and immersive — mossy jungle, mist, the sound of rushing water, and a natural pool at the base where you can cool off.
• It’s accessible and relatively affordable. Entrance is modest, paths are well-maintained near the main falls, and the site has amenities like parking, stalls, local shops.
• For nature lovers and photographers, there are several waterfalls / cascades in the vicinity (twin falls, smaller drops), giving variety. Visiting early avoids crowds and lets you enjoy the scene more peacefully.

My Impression
Arriving at Gitgit feels like stepping into verdant calm immediately. The trail, cool air, greenery, and finally the waterfall — there’s a satisfying build up. Swimming under the falls or just letting the spray cool your face is refreshing. It’s not about adrenaline; it’s about nature’s rhythm and beauty. The added charm is encountering monkeys, local vendors, and having moments of quiet when the crowds haven’t yet arrived. For me, the early morning light filtering through leaves onto water was a highlight — a photo moment and a still-moment.
