The mysterious Balagezong is located in Nixi Township, northwest of Shangri-La, Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province.

I visited the mysterious Balagezong, a National AAAA-level Nature Reserve.

Bala Village, located in the Balagezong area of ​​Shangri-La, Yunnan, was once uncharted territory. With no roads connecting the village to the outside world, Balagezong remained isolated for over 1,300 years.

It is a haven of natural beauty: snow-capped mountains, glaciers, canyons, forests, meadows, lakes, cacti, and pure air. It also boasts a touching story of road-building.

Sina Dingzhu – a remarkable villager with a dream to build a road to his hometown, left home at 13 and worked tirelessly until he was 40.

From a multimillionaire to a billionaire, he sold his properties, and ultimately, through road construction, he forged a path through 10 years of hard work, finally creating China's most treacherous road to heaven. This road leads to his idyllic hometown and completes a missing landmark on the map.
