This time we came to a very unpopular country, Brunei~
The first place I will introduce is: Brunei Tengyun Temple
It was built in 1901 and donated by Quanzhou merchants from China. At that time, the Chinese community in Brunei was growing rapidly and they needed a place to worship gods and hold religious activities.
The Tengyun Hall was originally a small temple but was expanded in the 1960s. The expanded temple is more magnificent and has become the largest Taoist temple in Brunei. (Google)... In fact, this is the only Taoist site in this place. Since Brunei is a Muslim country, this place is also a good example of religious openness.
It is a typical Minnan-style building (because most of the people who come here are from Fujian). The gate of the temple is decorated with exquisite wood carvings and the roof is covered with golden glazed tiles. There are many statues of gods in the temple, the most famous of which is the statue of Guan Gong.
Different Chinese activities are held here every year.
Lunar New Year Celebrations
Guan Gong Birthday Celebrations
Zhongyuan Festival Celebrations
Nine Emperor Gods Birthday Celebrations
Cultural Events
Tengyun Temple is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Brunei. It is a good place to learn about the culture and religion of the Chinese in Brunei.
