Bang Pa-In Summer Palace was originally built in 1632 during the reign of King Prasat Thong of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. After its completion, it served as the summer retreat for the Ayutthaya royal family. However, in 1767, the palace was abandoned following the Burmese invasion of Ayutthaya. King Rama IV later decided to restore the palace, and most of the current structures were built between 1872 and 1889 during the reign of King Rama V. The entrance fee is 100 Thai Baht, and renting a golf cart costs 500 Thai Baht plus an ID as a deposit. Only a few areas of the palace are open for visitors to explore. The surrounding scenery is serene and elegant, and the architecture is simple and understated.
