Kong Kong Market (Ban Saeng Som), Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province

Kong Kong Market (Baan Saeng Som) is located at Ban Saeng Som, Village No. 5, Bang Pa-in - Wat Phanan Choeng Road (next to Wat Ban Len). It is an interesting old-fashioned market with an old-fashioned atmosphere like the Ayutthaya period. In the past, Ban Saeng Som was a checkpoint (a former tax collection checkpoint) and a place where various products were traded and exchanged. The name Kong Kong Market comes from the fact that sellers would sit on the ground to sell their products. Therefore, people who came to buy products had to go up to the ground to select the products they were interested in. In the past, this was considered a polite and gentle gesture.

The market sells pottery products, traditional desserts, organic plants, vegetables, and fruits from community gardens, consumer goods, and various types of savory and sweet foods.

Vendors dress in retro Thai costumes.

Open: Thursday-Friday-Saturday-Sunday and public holidays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
