Travelers mecca

The historical core of the tourism sector that has evolved in the Banglamphu district is Khao San Road. Originally catering to travelers and described as a backpacker mecca, that description is no longer valid as of 2015, as it now attracts a diverse range of tourists, the majority of whom are not backpackers.

There are various restaurants, pubs, hotels, shops, and entertainment options on the street and in the surrounding area, especially at night when the entire neighborhood comes alive. It is Thailand's most densely populated tourist destination, with something for everyone from t-shirts to street food to beer and performances.
