Pay homage to Phra Phutthasuntharamuni at Wat Kanang Loeng

#SingleTravelPlaces
🏡Wat Sunthon Thammathan was established in 1837. It was originally called Wat Kae Nang Loeng, which was distorted from the word Wat Kae according to the southern dialect of the people who settled in that area. It was once called Wat Sanam Krabue, after the name of Tambon Sanam Kwai, where the temple is located. Later, King Rama IV bestowed the name Wat Sunthon Thammathan by combining the names of Krom Muen Sunthon Thibodi and Phra Thammathanacharn of Wat Saket.

The important and interesting things in the temple are as follows:

🏠The Ubosot is a new building, built to replace the old one that was dilapidated. Inside is enshrined Phra Phuttha Sunthon Muni, the principal Buddha image. There is a glass pavilion decorated in the style of Phra Phuttha Chinnarat, lacquered and gilded, enshrined on a marble base.

🧱The covered chapel is decorated with gilded stars and lacquered murals, decorated with Thai stucco gold-lacquered and lacquered patterns, depicting the life of the Buddha, and stucco sculptures depicting riddles.
🙏🏽Luang Pho Baramee is enshrined under a large Bodhi tree near the Ubosot.
🙏🏽Memorial of Phra Ratcha Thammacharn (Thup Khemasiri), former abbot of Wat Sunthon Thammathan.
✨️This is where the ashes of Mitr Chaibancha, a famous former actor, are enshrined. They are located along the temple wall, next to the covered chapel.
