Walking around Kudichin area: Faith, traditional desserts 🍰✨⛪️

#Travel to save the world

One day, we had the opportunity to walk around the Kudi Chin area, an old area along the Chao Phraya River in Thonburi, which is full of the charm of a blend of cultures, including Thai, Chinese, and Portuguese.

Our first destination was the Santa Cruz Church, or Santa Cruz Church, an old Catholic church built around 1770 by a Portuguese community that migrated to settle in the Thonburi period. The current church is a Renaissance architecture built between 1913–1916. When we entered, we felt the magic and peace that permeated the entire church.

After that, we walked to an old shrine in the same area, which reflects the religious and cultural diversity of this community.

Another highlight that should not be missed is trying the Kudi Chin Farang dessert, an ancient dessert that originated from Portuguese desserts in the Ayutthaya period. It is made from duck eggs, wheat flour, and white sugar, topped with raisins and candied winter melon. Currently, only a few families in the community still continue to make this type of dessert.

This walk around the Kudi Chin area allowed us to experience the beauty of the harmony of various cultures and taste the taste of history through ancient desserts that are hard to find today.

If you have the chance We recommend you to take a walk in the Kudi Chin area once. You will fall in love with its charm like us.
