Wat Pho Tha Tien – A Major Landmark in the Heart of Bangkok

Start your morning by visiting Wat Phra Chetuphon Vimolmangklararm Rajwaramahaviharn (Wat Pho), a first-class royal temple paired with the Rattanakosin era. Upon entering, you will be struck by the massive Reclining Buddha, over 46 meters long, adorned with mother-of-pearl inlays on the soles of its feet featuring 108 auspicious symbols. Thais believe that paying respect at the feet brings peace and happiness in life.

Inside the temple, there are also 99 stupas and ancient medical inscriptions carved on stone slabs—Wat Pho is thus known as “Thailand’s first university” and has been registered as a precious world heritage site by UNESCO.

Open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:30 PM (foreign tourists 100 THB/person). The temple is located on the Tha Tien side along Sanam Chai Road, right by the Chao Phraya River. It is easily accessible by walking from MRT Sanam Chai Station or by taking the Chao Phraya Express Boat.
