☀️ Review: Wat Arun – Standing quietly watching the morning light reflect on the tiles
A weekday morning in Bangkok, I woke up early without any rush to go anywhere.
I just felt like being near the river and wanted the sun to brush my shoulder for a while.
So I took the ferry to “Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchawaramahawihan,” or as everyone calls it, Wat Arun.
⸻
🏯 Wat Arun: A beauty that never repeats
The moment I walked in, I felt time slow down.
The tall prang towers rise tier by tier toward the sky.
The morning sunlight reflects off the colorful glazed tiles.
The breeze by the Chao Phraya River is gentle, as if inviting us to stand here a little longer.
⸻
📸 My favorite photo spots:
1. The stairs of the eastern prang – when the slanting light hits, the walls glow with shadows, as if alive.
2. Next to the main viharn – there are many overlapping doors; shooting against the light looks peaceful.
3. By the river late morning – the prang’s reflection on the water looks calm and like a painting.
⸻
🧘 Feelings:
I didn’t come just to “pray for blessings.”
I came to “sit with myself” in a sacred space that, despite having people, is strangely quiet.
No need to try to understand anything, just feel that…
“We are here, comfortably enough.”
⸻
💡 A few tips from me:
• Come in the morning when the light is beautiful, easy to take photos, and not hot.
• Wear modest clothing because there are many sacred areas.
• If you’re hungry, try taking the ferry to eat near Wat Pho or Tha Tien; it’s convenient.
⸻
I want to come back here again…
Not because I want new photos,
But because my heart still wants to stay quietly in that light a little longer 🌤️
