The Khlong Lat Mayom Floating Market in Bangkok is one of the riverside markets that still retains the essence of a "market for Thai people" rather than just a tourist spot. It truly offers a rural atmosphere.
📍 Location & How to Get There
Located on Bang Ramad Road, Bangkok
Open Saturdays–Sundays and public holidays from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Convenient transportation:
Take the BTS to Bang Wa, then taxi/ride-share about 15–20 minutes (~80–175 THB) or simply call Grab directly from the city.
🌿 Atmosphere & Activities
Feels like a peaceful riverside community, not as crowded as other famous floating markets.
There are spots to rent paddle boats or long-tail boats to cruise the canal (~30–90 minutes, only ~50–150 THB), perfect for photos and experiencing riverside life.
Stroll through the main market along the canal bank, with shops selling food, daily necessities, souvenirs, plants, home decor, and more.
🍜 Must-Try Delicious Dishes
Grilled Fish – salt-grilled fish with crispy skin, juicy and flavorful
Fried Mussels – crispy mussels, soft batter, fresh clean vegetables
Shrimp Baked with Glass Noodles – fresh shrimp, rich sauce with juicy glass noodles
Pork Satay & Grilled Pork Neck – slightly smoky aroma, amazing peanut sauce
Local Desserts – Khao Lam (sticky rice in bamboo), Khanom Tan (palm sugar cake), Khanom Neup, etc.
Noodle and Curry Rice Stalls – dishes around ~20–40 THB
📝 Tips for a Better Experience
1. Come early (9:00–10:00 AM) when it’s less crowded and the weather is comfortable
2. Highly recommend renting a boat to explore deeper and see the riverside community lifestyle
3. Pay local prices only! No tipping or overcharging like at touristy markets
✅ Impressions
This market offers a variety of food at reasonable prices and a genuine riverside lifestyle experience without the crowds.
If you want a local vibe but don’t want to walk far, this market is the highlight.
