The only palace in Thonburi
"The Old Palace" was the palace of King Taksin the Great, built when Thonburi was the capital.
The Old Palace is the birthplace of several Thai kings, including King Nangklao (Rama III), King Mongkut (Rama IV), and King Pinklao.
Inside the Old Palace, there are many important historical sites, including:
The Throne Hall: This throne hall was built during the Thonburi period. King Taksin the Great used this throne hall to conduct all royal affairs. The corner inside the hall was the place where King Taksin held official duties. This corner should not be missed.
Additionally, there are:
- Ancient Chinese bell
- Kwang Throne Hall
- Twin Pavilion
- King Pinklao’s Pavilion
- King Taksin the Great Shrine
- Green House building
- Whale Head Shrine
- Vichai Prasit Fort, a riverside fortress built since the Ayutthaya period along the Chao Phraya River
This is considered a very valuable historical site.
