
Located in the middle section of Lotte Avenue in downtown Weinan, the Weinan Museum is a major public welfare project approved by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission and a key project designated by the Weinan Municipal Party Committee and Government. It has garnered significant attention and support from all sectors of society. Planning for the project began in early 2009, and after more than seven years of intense construction and preparation, it officially opened to the public free of charge in February 2016.

The main building of the Weinan Museum consists of four floors, three above ground and one underground. The exhibition, "In Harmony with the Beauty of Weinan: Stories of Weinan," is divided into eight sections: "Abundant Natural Resources: Weinan's Geographical Environment and Natural Resources; Seeking Ancient Roots: Weinan in Prehistory; Memories of the Pre-Qin Period: Weinan during the Xia, Shang, and Zhou Dynasties; Weinan as the Capital's Key Region: Weinan during the Qin and Han Dynasties; Weinan as the Dragon's Birthplace: Weinan during the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties; Weinan as the Nation's Heartbeat: Weinan during the Sui and Tang Dynasties; Elegant Customs: Weinan during the Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties; and Warring States Period: Weinan in Modern Times.
