Wood Café – From Then to Now

I first visited this place many years ago. The wooden door, covered with vines, was left open as if inviting passersby to escape the sun and step inside. Outside, vines draped over the eaves, casting shadows on wooden chairs and fern pots. The cement floor was still damp from the rain.

Inside, the café was an old wooden house with warm orange lighting. The wooden tables were polished smooth but still bore marks of age. The coconut cake I had back then was mildly sweet, soft, and fragrant, as if freshly peeled.

Nearly a decade has passed, yet the same wooden door remains. The vines still embrace the eaves, and the wooden tables continue to welcome strangers.

The cake display now offers more options—strawberry cheesecake, lemon cheesecake, brownies. Today, I ordered a carrot cake with moist texture, a hint of cinnamon, and a smooth cream cheese topping. Paired with a strong black coffee, the balance of bitterness and sweetness was perfect, needing no extra embellishment.

Though the menu has evolved, the atmosphere remains unchanged. This isn’t a café designed to impress but a small, cozy home where anyone can stop by to rest.

Wood Café has become a simple, warm café that always has visitors coming and going.

Getting There
Wood Café is tucked away in Soi Lat Phrao Wang Hin 48, a lane connecting to Lat Phrao Wang Hin Road (Lat Phrao-Chokchai 4).
Despite being in a bustling area, the atmosphere noticeably quiets down as you turn into the lane.
• From Lat Phrao Road:
Enter Soi Lat Phrao 44 and drive straight until it connects to Lat Phrao Wang Hin Road. Then, turn right into Soi 48. The café will be on your left, not far from the entrance.
• From Chokchai 4 Road:
Enter Soi 72 or 54 to connect to Lat Phrao Wang Hin Road, then turn into Soi 48 as well.
As you drive into Soi 48, look to your left for a low wooden fence and a faded wooden sign reading “Wood Café” hanging under the eaves. Small hanging plants and a wooden table in front of the café will guide you.

Wood Café has a Google Maps rating of 4.4 out of 5 from approximately 537 reviewers.

In the café world, this score reflects:
• Most people are impressed by the honest, unpretentious flavors of the desserts and drinks.
• The cozy wooden house atmosphere that feels like visiting a friend’s home.
• The unhurried service, offering a slow pace perfect for relaxing.

It’s not a score earned by striving for perfection but by being genuinely itself—so much so that those who visit once often return with friends or family.
