Great Location in Sukhumvit

Ideal location for the Sukhumvit section of Bangkok. Within walking distance to the main street, Asok BTS skytrain station, and plentiful shops, including the Terminal 21 shopping complex. The other way takes you to the Emporium shopping center with various malls and eateries. Nearby, you'll find Benchakitti Park with paths leading to Lumphini Park and the Silom area, if you’re up for a stroll and it’s not too hot. The surrounding sois feature many Japanese and other cuisine restaurants. A bustling business district by day, it offers a vastly different scene at night, especially in the entertainment spots around Nana, with bars, eateries, music, massage parlours, and more. Humanity buzzing around luxury hotels that feel worlds apart. Maybe I show my ignorance here. This older hotel is surprisingly above standard. After a tiring hot travel day, a quick check-in would’ve been nice, but it was slow, and there was a mix-up over my suitcase held by doormen until my room was ready. The reception staff was helpful and arranged a good room on a high floor with a view, though my booking request should have avoided the wait. Despite lacking touches like a welcome drink, the experience was positive. Spacious room with park lake view. Large comfy bed with satin linens, quiet air con, and a bathtub (no washcloths). Small toiletries provided. Excellent housekeeping. Pleasant having a coffee table by the window. Room safe present. No iron, which is inconvenient for business trips, though they might offer this service. The hotel is somewhat dated and worn in places, like chair fabric and wallpaper. It's surprising hotels overlook these details. The pool area is nice, with a bar and Mexican restaurant, but small, often lacking enough chairs and umbrellas. The pool itself can get crowded with children, making relaxation hard. Usual hotel food and drink prices. A wall clock would be handy. Good that the pool stays open until 10 pm. Convenient Grab taxi service, reasonable at 511 baht to the airport, and the option of a late checkout at a half-day rate is appreciated. However, caution with the minibar—mistakenly ate their cashews, thinking they were mine, and paid double. This led to an awkward checkout moment as reception wouldn’t waive the charge, despite a considerable late checkout payment. Their formality left me feeling uneasy about my mistake. Overall, it's a decent hotel in a great location. Not sure I’d revisit, with so many other Bangkok hotels to explore. Cheers.
