🏘 Wat Pho Kaew was originally named Wat Pho Kaew Sroi Fa Sattha Tham, after the couple who donated the land for its construction in 1806.
🙏🏽 Later, the name was changed to Wat Klang Bang Pa Kaew, as it was located in the center of the Bang Pa Kaew community. Shortly after, it was renamed Wat Pho Kaew to honor the land donors.
Key attractions and significant features within the temple include:
🏠 The Chinese-style ordination hall, featuring a two-tiered roof. The upper gable houses ceremonial offerings, with a vase in the center flanked by two cloud-riding dragons facing the vase. The hall is adorned with antique porcelain and has been registered as a historical site by the Fine Arts Department.
🙏🏽 Inside the ordination hall, the principal Buddha image, Phra Buddha Rattanapho Thivorayan, is enshrined. This Buddha statue is in the Mara Vichai posture. Due to the elevated structure of the ordination hall, it has two levels.
⛺ The pavilion within the temple houses Luang Por Pho Nimit, a Buddha statue carved from fragrant sandalwood in a meditation posture.
🏡 Wat Pho Kaew: No. 16, Rama II Road, Soi 1 (Wat Pho Kaew), Bang Mod Subdistrict, Chom Thong District, Bangkok.
