Wat Thong Thammachat Worawihan was originally named Wat Thong Bon because there were two other nearby temples, the other being Wat Thong Lang or Wat Thong Noppakhun.
It is believed to have been built during the Ayutthaya period, later during the reigns of King Rama I and later during the reigns of King Rama III. Located on Chiang Mai Road, just off Somdet Chao Phraya Road, the temple entrance is on the left. Upon entering, you'll see the ordination hall behind a wall. It features a traditional style with a gabled finial, a raka-hang-hong design, and a ship-shaped arched base in the Ayutthaya style. There are palais at both the front and back, facing east toward the Chao Phraya River. Sema stones are enclosed in arched niches at the top of the chedi in eight directions. There are twelve-angled recessed chedis at each corner. The principal Buddha image is Phra Buddha Chinnachat, depicting the subduing Mara posture. Inside, traditional murals are displayed. Behind the principal Buddha image is a depiction of the Traibhumi (Triple World), while in front is a depiction of the subduing Mara. Above the windows are depictions of the gathering of deities.
