Wudangzhao Monastery — Inner Mongolia’s “Little Potala Palace”

Left Hohhot for a 2.5-hour scenic drive to one of China’s four great Tibetan Buddhist temples — Wudangzhao Monastery in Baotou. Known as the “Little Potala Palace”, this 350-year-old lamasery sits peacefully along a mountain slope, radiating serenity and sacred grandeur.

As I walked through clusters of white-walled halls adorned in gold, red, and intricate details, colorful prayer flags fluttered gently in the wind. Each corner felt like a step deeper into timeless devotion.

🧘♂️ Inside the halls, don’t miss the magnificent frescoes and statues — a quiet marvel of artistry and spiritual symbolism. You’ll also find monks immersed in their scriptures, adding a truly authentic, contemplative atmosphere to this peaceful sanctuary.

A soul-nourishing stop, far from the noise of modern life.
