Review of a stroll through Beijing's Yandai Xiejie Street

I visited Yandai Xiejie Street to experience the old charm of Beijing. The narrow, elongated alley is lined with traditional Chinese architecture, and while it looks beautiful during the day, the atmosphere becomes truly magical at sunset when the golden light filters through the alleyways.
Though the street isn't very large, it offers plenty to see. On one side, there are handicraft shops; on another, tea houses; and even street vendors offering calligraphy services. Many visitors dress in traditional Chinese attire for photos, and sipping a hand-dripped tea while gazing out the window felt like stepping back in time.
As expected of a tourist spot, it was quite crowded, but the lively atmosphere made it easy to soak in the local vibe. Its proximity to Houhai Lake makes it convenient to explore both areas together, and a leisurely walk naturally leads you to the end of the street.
The alley strikes a perfect balance between being charming and unpretentious, blending local culture with a traveler’s sense of romance. It’s no wonder people say it’s a must-visit spot in Beijing.
