📌 The Summer Palace (Yiheyuan in Chinese) is located approximately 15 kilometers from downtown Beijing. This ancient imperial garden took over 60 years to build as the imperial residence.
🌼 Today, it's a museum-like attraction filled with fascinating historical, architectural, and cultural relics. It also houses a wealth of valuable artifacts, making it a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998. Inside, the palace boasts numerous man-made structures, including mountains and lakes, as well as pagodas, temples, pavilions, and bridges. These structures are all entirely man-made.
🌸 Must-see attractions when visiting the Summer Palace:
1. Kunming Lake, a man-made lake with stunning scenery.
2. Marble Boat, a viewpoint Empress Dowager Cixi graced the lake, carved from massive marble.
3. Changlang Corridor, the longest wooden corridor in China, is adorned with over 8,000 colorful paintings adorning the beams, ceilings, and pillars.
