Beijing is way more underrated than people think—cultural gems everywhere, beautiful urban vibes and so much to experience beyond the typical! This itinerary gets you deep into the city’s culture and history, with plenty of surprises along the way.
Start your day with The Palace Museum (No. 4, Jingshanqian St, Dongcheng; Tues–Sun, 8:30 AM–5 PM, last entry 4 PM, ¥60). Wander through ancient courtyards, marvel at golden roofs, and snap an iconic shot overlooking the main gate—it’s regal and vibrant from every angle! Next, stroll to Tiananmen Square (Chang'an St, Dongcheng; open 5 AM–10 PM). Get that classic wide-angle photo under the national flag, especially stunning at sunrise when the plaza glows pink and gold.
Head north to Beihai Park (No.1 Wenjin St, Xicheng; open 6 AM–9 PM Apr–Oct, ¥128)—a lush escape with jade waters and the dazzling White Dagoba at its core. Paddle on the lake or walk ancient pathways, with great "insta-worthy" spots by the lotus pond and arched bridges. Take a peaceful lunch at Shichahai Scenic Area (open 24/7, Xicheng Dist.), where hutongs snake around three pretty lakes—perfect for local cafés and photogenic alleyways.
Cap off with Beijing Olympic Park (No. 15, Beichen East Rd, Chaoyang; open as late as 10 PM in summer), where the Bird’s Nest and Water Cube are architectural icons (best pics near sunset!).
Personal Tips: Arrive early for fewer crowds, bring cash for snacks, don’t shy from slower hutong meanders—the charm here is in the details.
