Gubei Water City 🏞️
Location❓
- The city is located in Gubeikou, a suburb of Beijing, at the foot of the Simatai section of Beijing's Great Wall.
Architecture❓
- The architecture is reminiscent of old Chinese cities, with street food districts, art galleries, traditional workshops, and tea ceremonies.
What to see❓
- A water city with bridges and canals, hot springs, and numerous folk performances and crafts, including dancing and sugar blowing. 🍭 And, of course, the Simatai section of the Great Wall.
Food❓
There are quite a few establishments in the area, even entire food districts, but the food is not cheap; the most affordable option was the Hot Pot. Lunch for two cost about 200 yuan, but it was delicious 👍
Impressions❓
- When you arrive in this city, your first impression is that you've been shoved into an AI-generated image, but it's all real and alive. You see everything with your own eyes and just can't believe it at first, it's so incredibly beautiful!
How to get there❓
- Of course, the easiest way is by taxi, but it's also the most expensive, costing about 450 yuan one-way.
One of the most affordable options is to buy a tour on Trip.com; roundtrip transfers and entrance tickets are included in the tour price. A gondola ride and cable car ride to the Great Wall are also more affordable through a guide; ours cost 280 yuan per person.
Is it worth the trip?
- Definitely worth it! The views will inspire any traveler, and for photography enthusiasts, it's a fantastic location for a gorgeous photoshoot. A huge plus is that there aren't many people in this city, so you can find secluded spots for a photoshoot.
