A Myriad of Phenomena—Thematic Exhibition on the Practice of Protecting China's Intangible Cultural Heritage

“A Myriad of Phenomena—Thematic Exhibition on the Practice of Protecting China's Intangible Cultural Heritage” is a large-scale intangible cultural heritage exhibition guided by the Intangible Cultural Heritage Department of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and hosted by the China Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum. The exhibition focuses on showcasing the achievements in protecting intangible cultural heritage in China over the 20 years since the approval of the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. It covers more than 100 nationally representative intangible cultural heritage projects and UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list projects, with over 600 exhibits (sets), including traditional performing arts, traditional crafts, folk customs, and other categories spanning a decade.

Through the real-scene setting of the Huizhou Ancient Theater, live opera performances, multimedia interactions, and intangible cultural heritage workshop experiences, visitors can closely experience the living inheritance of intangible cultural heritage. For example, live demonstrations of the production process by inheritors of Fengning Manchu paper-cutting and Su embroidery.

A combination of gauze screen projection and live performances presents 16 opera excerpts.

A recreated tea culture scene displays the complete process from planting to production.

The exhibition gathers intangible cultural heritage treasures from various regions, such as Linshu willow weaving and Fujian Nanyin music.
