I visited the Beijing Grand Canal Museum and the adjacent Grand Canal Forest Park in Beijing's Tongzhou District, and I'd like to share my experience.

🏛️ Arrived at the Grand Canal Museum!

The moment I arrived at the museum, I was captivated by its unique architecture. The roof resembles a sail, reminiscent of a ship sailing on water. Once inside, the common hall, also designed with a ship in mind, made me feel like I was traveling the Grand Canal myself.

The exhibits were organized around three perspectives: "People, Water, and City," and clearly explained the history of the Grand Canal and Beijing. I was particularly impressed by the "Grand Canal Victory Scroll," painted by artists from the Beijing Painting Academy. The meticulous depiction of the canalside scenery kept me glued to it.

The museum is free to visit and no reservations are required. There's also a cafe and bookstore, making it a great place to relax. Guided tours are held regularly, so I highly recommend it for those who want to learn more.

🌳 Refreshing at the Grand Canal Forest Park

After the museum, I headed to the nearby Grand Canal Forest Park. The expansive lawn was bustling with families and joggers. I sat on the grass and enjoyed a leisurely stroll while enjoying lunch.

My favorite spots were the Silver Wind and Autumn Seed Scenic Area at East 3 Gate and the wooden deck area at West 6 Gate. These are perfect for picnics and camping, allowing you to relax in nature. There's also a well-maintained cycling path, so it's also recommended for those looking for a little exercise.

What I felt on this trip was the luxurious experience of learning about culture and history at the museum and experiencing nature in the adjacent park. Both are free, so they're definitely worth a visit if you're in Beijing.
