Lisbon Trip: Jerónimos Monastery 🇵🇹

[Trip Moment Delivery.🗞️]
On this trip, I visited Lisbon's masterpiece, the Jerónimos Monastery Cloister (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos: Claustro)! 🇵🇹🏛️🌿

🛄ㅣA Gem of Belém
Located in the heart of Lisbon's Belém district, the Jerónimos Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos) is a representative building symbolizing Portugal's Age of Exploration. Among its most beautiful spaces, the Cloister (Claustro) is arguably the most beautiful. This garden-like space, forming the centerpiece of the monastery, exudes a tranquil and sacred atmosphere, distinct from the opulence of its exterior.

🏛️ A Perfect Harmony of Manueline Style
The Cloister was designed in the early 16th century in Portugal's distinctive Manueline Style. Delicately carved arched columns and intricately curved decorations lined the corridor, each one engraved with symbols of navigation and faith, such as ropes, stars, plants, and crosses. Sunlight slowly filtered into the corridor, creating light and shade between the stone pillars and gently spreading patterns across the floor. The scene was tranquil, as if time itself had stood still.

🌿 Sacredness in Silence
The garden at the center of the corridor was neatly maintained, and a small fountain murmured softly within it. The peacefulness of the space deepened as I imagined monks strolling here, praying and contemplating. People whispered and walked slowly, never disturbing the tranquility.

✨ Art and Spirituality Meet
Ascending to the upper levels of the corridor allows for a closer look at the structural beauty created by the columns and arches. The intricate and elaborate carvings showcased the pinnacle of architectural beauty, and at one end of the cloister, a passageway opened up to the monastery's Church of Our Lady of Belém (Igreja de Santa Maria de Belém).

At the end of the passage, soft light streamed in and the warmth of the stonework merged, creating a moment of perfect harmony between art and faith.
