Hittite capital, World Heritage Site, Turkey

The capital of the Hittites, who are said to have been the first in history to produce iron and build a powerful empire. The ruins of temples and palaces, as well as walls and gates, are scattered across the wide hilly area, making this an atmospheric World Heritage Site that is truly the remains of the dreams of the strong. The Boğazköy Museum also displays valuable excavated items and is well worth a visit.
