Art, Architecture & Atmosphere: Visiting the Guggenheim Bilbao

A visit to Bilbao isn’t complete without experiencing the Guggenheim Museum. It's an architectural icon and cultural landmark that has transformed the city.

Designed by Frank Gehry, the building itself is as much a masterpiece as the contemporary art it houses.

🎟️ Tips for Visiting
Buy tickets online to skip the queue.

Check for discounts: students, seniors, and groups often pay less.

Plus, it's free for ICOM members and children under 18. Don’t forget your card or ID!

Admission includes both permanent and temporary exhibitions, plus a free audio guide via the museum’s app.

Plan to spend at least 2 to 3 hours here. You may need more time if you want to enjoy lunch at the museum café or Michelin-starred Nerua.

Don't forget to check out the sculptures and architecture from the outside! The riverside walk around the museum is full of photo-worthy angles.

🌇 Bonus Tip:
Head to the La Salve Bridge right before sunset. The views of the titanium curves glowing in golden light, with the river flowing beneath, are absolutely stunning. It’s one of the best photo spots in the city.
