Indonesia's Largest Slum|Now Transformed into a Rainbow-like Scenic Spot!
Located in Malang, Indonesia, the Rainbow Village (Kampung Warna-warni Jodipan) was originally a dilapidated slum. Through the creative efforts of local university students and government initiatives, it has now blossomed into a vibrant artistic community. The village is built along the Brantas River, with houses painted in bright rainbow colors on their roofs and walls, adorned with lively murals and graffiti featuring themes like marine life and anime characters, creating a fairytale-like dreamy atmosphere. This transformation not only enhanced the village's visual appeal but also boosted tourism, allowing residents to increase their income by selling handicrafts and opening small shops. What makes Rainbow Village unique is that it's not just an art exhibition space but also a real home for its residents, where the charm of everyday life harmoniously coexists with artistic vibes. However! It's worth noting that this area actually consists of two separate villages on opposite sides of the river bridge. If you want to cross from one side to the other, you'll need to purchase another ticket for the second village!!!
