Grindelwald Forest

Grindelwald Forest in Switzerland (as in “Grindelwald” in the Bernese Alps)
Grindelwald is a mountain village and region in the Bernese Oberland, in the Swiss Alps.

The name is likely derived from Old German/Celtic: grindel meaning a kind of wooden barrier, or barrier forest.

Things to See & Do in the Forest / Nature Areas

There's a barbecue/fireplace area called Grindel Läger which offers great views. It’s accessible via hiking trails such as the ones between Schreckfeld and Grosse Scheidegg.

One can hike various trails, enjoy the natural alpine forest scenery, mountain peaks, and lookouts. The forest and surrounding mountains form a sort of “enclosed” valley with steep surroundings.
