Located in Weishan City, the former capital of the Nanzhao Kingdom, Longqing Pass was a crucial passageway along the ancient "Southwest Silk Road." Located at an altitude of 2,700 meters, this stone stele, inscribed during the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty, is considered by bird experts to be the world's earliest and oldest record of the "Bird Path." From mid-September to mid-October each year, dense fog shrouds the "Bird Path Pass," causing thousands of migratory birds to become lost and collide with each other, emitting a variety of calls and creating the spectacular spectacle of "Niaodiao Mountain Bird Path Pass."

The "Bird Path Pass" is known locally as "Daniao Mountain" or "Danque Mountain." Since when, locals have developed the habit of catching migratory birds here. For a long time, many locals viewed these birds as "descending snacks."

Every year around the Torch Festival, from mid-September to mid-October, the heart-wrenching cries and struggling cries of downed birds can be heard everywhere at "Bird Path Pass." During the migration season, locals, armed with homemade nets and hand warmers, follow the birds' calls to trees, light fires, and lure them. When birds fly close to the fire, they cast their nets and capture them. Countless birds have perished in this untimely fate. It's said that in a single night, you could catch a sack of birds, enough for several family meals.
