El Azhar Park is one of my favorite places in Cairo. It's like an oasis amidst the bustling city, offering a respite from the dust and heat of Egypt. The park is spacious, with lawns, fountains, and lakes complementing the Islamic architecture. The views are stunning, and you can even see Cairo's old city and citadel in the distance.
Beyond the beautiful scenery, it's also filled with friendly locals, with many families picnicking and playing, creating a relaxed atmosphere. What impressed me most was how a group of children, upon seeing us, happily shouted "Welcome to Egypt!" That genuine and warm welcome was heartwarming. Egyptians exude a simple, welcoming spirit, never feeling distant.
The park also boasts numerous unique restaurants and small markets where you can sample local cuisine or buy interesting handicrafts. El Azhar Park is not just a place to stroll and enjoy the scenery; it's a great place to immerse yourself in local culture and people. If you're in Cairo, it's definitely worth a stop to experience another aspect of Egypt.
