The Southwestern Tip of Africa: Cape of Good Hope

The Cape of Good Hope is located at the southwestern tip of the African continent and is known as the place where Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias became the first European to reach in 1488.

Initially, it was named the "Cape of Storms," but later, King John II of Portugal renamed it the "Cape of Good Hope" to celebrate the discovery of a sea route to the East.

Today, it is affectionately known as "The Cape of Good Hope" in English and "喜望峰" in Japanese.

When you get close, the breathtaking scenery is absolutely stunning! 🌊
