Liaoning Chaoyang Bird Fossil National Geopark, a 4A-level scenic spot, is located at No. 100 Longniao Avenue, Longcheng District, Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province. The main geological relics include paleontological fossils, fossil-bearing strata, geological structures, etc., with a total area of about 900 acres.
Liaoning Chaoyang Bird Fossil Geopark consists of the Beipiao Sihe Tun Fossil Park Area, Fenghuang Mountain Geological Geomorphology Park Area, Lingyuan Dawangzhangzi Paleontological Fossil Park Area, Shangheshou Paleontological Park Area, and the Huai Shudong Scenic Area, covering a main geological relic area of 207 square kilometers. The Shangheshou Central Park Area, with a planned total area of 70 hectares, is the main monument area of the Chaoyang Bird Fossil National Geopark. The unique stratigraphic geomorphology has endowed Chaoyang with an extremely rich fossil resource, hence it is known as the 'World's Paleontological Fossil Treasury'. In addition, the park houses a museum covering an area of over 10,000 square meters, equipped with multiple multimedia displays and interactive devices such as sound, light, and electricity, making it a great classroom for young people to explore the mysteries of the universe, understand geological knowledge, and enhance environmental protection awareness.
