Chaozhou is truly a treasure trove of both food and culture! This time, staying at the Chaozhou Tengrui Crowne Plaza Hotel was simply stunning💫 Lying in a high-rise by the Han River, enjoying panoramic views of the ancient city, sipping tea, strolling bridges, and eating rice noodles all in one stop—who understands this kind of relaxation!
🌉 You don’t understand the joy of a river view room
• Key experience: Lying by the floor-to-ceiling window, you can watch the Guangji Bridge light show! It starts promptly at 6:30 PM every day, no need to go out and fight the crowds (recommend booking a high-floor west-facing room)
• Hidden gem: Open the curtains at 6 AM, the morning mist over the Han River with the ancient city’s blue tiles looks just like an ink painting (photographers, remember to bring a telephoto lens)
🚶♂️ Five-minute power walk to the main attractions
• Walking guide: Turn right out the door and walk 10 minutes along the river to Guangji Bridge; cross the bridge to reach Paifang Street (you’ll pass the super vintage Phoenix Tower photo spot on the way)
• Nearby secret: Go through the alley behind the hotel to find the local favorite “Zhenji Beef Offal” old shop, ten times tastier than the trendy spots!
🏯 Chaozhou-Shantou DNA in the details
• Cultural highlights: The lobby’s inlaid porcelain art wall, embroidered pillows in the rooms, even the elevator decorations tell the story of Han Yu governing Chaozhou
• Must-eat breakfast: Freshly made Chaozhou rice rolls with stone olive soup, congee (Chaozhou white porridge) with 30+ kinds of savory side dishes—worth the room price alone
📸 Photo guide
• Rooftop terrace: Drone shots of the full Guangji Bridge panorama (advance notice required)
• Spiral staircase: Metal screens + light and shadow effects, perfect for traditional Chinese style outfits
• River view bathtub: Amenities by Thisworks, you can capture the reflection of Guangji Bridge while soaking
⚠️ Practical tips
• Transportation: Taxi from Chaoshan Station takes 25 minutes / city attractions mostly start at base fare
• Avoid pitfalls: For duck mother dumplings on Paifang Street, look for the “Hu Rongquan” old brand
• Hidden service: Front desk offers free Hanfu rental experience (limited to 2 hours)
Foodie’s secret route👇
Day 1: Check into river view room → Guangji Bridge light show → Guantang Brothers Beef Hotpot
Day 2: Han Wen Gong Ancestral Hall → Street food crawl on Paifang Street (recommend Wu Jinping snack shop) → Photo at Thai Buddha Hall → Back to hotel for night tea
Day 3: Longhu Ancient Village → Zaiyang Teahouse for opera
The biggest feeling staying here is: be a tourist eating and exploring by day, and a “ancient city observer” at the hotel by night. There are even lots of delivery options (recommend trying the raw fish claypot porridge)! If there’s a downside... the bathtub with night view is so comfortable you might soak until your skin peels 😂
