🍵 Heytea (喜茶) – Chunxi Road

Exploring two very different vibes — Chengdu and Yantai — this trip had me eating my way through mala hotpots and soaking in city skylines 🌆🌞. Chengdu’s Chunxi Road and IFS brought the best blend of modern architecture and old-school flavor, while Yantai dropped some lakeside and riverside zen. Think ginkgo trees, misty mornings, and plates of spicy goodness! 🥡🌧️
Top Spots to Visit:
1. Chengdu IFS (International Finance Square): Slick, modern shopping with giant panda statues and serious city views. Perfect for rainy-day strolls surrounded by cool local boutiques and international brands.
2. Chunxi Road: Locals’ favorite open-all-day shopping street in Jinjiang District. This spot is surrounded by ginkgo trees and fresh food stalls dishing out Chengdu’s classic mala flavors. Vibe? Classic meets modern. Location: Chunxi Road, Jinjiang District, Chengdu. (Open all day, every day.)
Personal Tip: Don’t miss trying tanyu! It’s actually not just mala; this chain serves up flavors super close to Chongqing, but the atmosphere is way more relaxed. Order anything spicy — you won’t regret it.
Getting Around: Metro is the MVP in Chengdu. Both IFS and Chunxi Road are walkable from Chunxi Road metro station — super cheap, crazy convenient, and shelters you from the unpredictable weather.
Food Rec: Go for the city’s aquatic products and anything featuring mala — especially at “Mala Panda” or tanyu spots on Chunxi Road. Rainy? Grab a hot pot or grilled fish, sit by the window, and watch the street drama unfold.
Extra Tips: Carry cash (WeChat and Alipay rule, but cash still works!); brace for sudden weather changes (cloudy and rainy → sunny in minutes). Bring an umbrella. The architecture isn’t just for show — look out for cool modernist and vision-style buildings everywhere.
