Nimman - Mae Kampong - Worship - Cafe - BBQ on the Mountain
This trip, we intended to change the atmosphere from the capital city to the embrace of the mountains and cool air in Chiang Mai for 4 full days where we could relax, eat, chill, and enjoy nature.
Day 1:
Arrived in Chiang Mai in the morning, rented a car, and went straight to our accommodation near Nimman. In the afternoon, we walked around the cafes on Nimman Road and checked in at many chic coffee shops.
Day 2:
In the morning, we headed to Mae Kampong, a village in the middle of a valley. We drove up the mountain and enjoyed the view along the way. When we reached the village, we walked around and took pictures of the wooden houses, small bridges, and coffee shops by the stream. It felt very natural. At night, we stayed at a homestay. The weather was cold to the point of being cold. We slept while listening to the sound of the flowing stream, which was very relaxing. We ate BBQ on the mountain.
Day 3:
We woke up in the morning with light fog and stopped to worship at Wat Phra That Doi Kham for good fortune. We then stopped by another cafe on the mountain with a great view. In the evening, we went back to the city to eat BBQ like in the picture! We sat and ate grilled pork on a hot stove in the cool air in the valley with a view of nature. Let me tell you, this was the most memorable meal of the trip.
Day 4:
Woke up late, took a short walk before driving back to Bangkok and flying back.
Summary:
This trip was a true break for the mind. Nature, cafes, food, and the cool air of Chiang Mai helped recharge my energy. If you want to escape the chaos, try planning a trip to Chiang Mai like this. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
