Worship at Wat Muen Tum | Chiang Mai

Wat Muen Tum is a temple of the Mahanikaya sect, located in Phra Singh Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Mai District, Chiang Mai Province.

Wat Muen Tum was established in 2021 and received the royal charter of the boundary markers in 2200 [1]. It was built during the reign of Phraya Kaew. The name "Muen Tum" originally came from a nobleman with the title of Muen, named Tum. He was a devoted Buddhist and led his relatives, followers, and the faithful to help build this temple. When it was completed, the temple was named after the person who built it. It is said that whenever a new king of the Mangrai Dynasty ascended the throne, he had to go through a Buddhist water blessing ceremony first. The ceremony was held at three important temples. The king had to wear white clothes, which was done at Wat Pha Khao. Then he went through a ceremony to ward off bad luck at Wat Muen Tum, and then ended with a water blessing ceremony at the pond of Wat Chet Lin.
