Royal Park Rajapruek, formerly known as Suan Chalermprakiat Ratchapruek, is a large botanical garden covering an area of over 468 rai, located at the Royal Agricultural Research Center, Chiang Mai, Mae Hia Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province. It was previously used as the venue for the Royal Flora Ratchapruek 2006 and the Royal Flora Ratchapruek 2011, which featured a variety of beautiful flowers, blooming in the hundreds of thousands and millions of flowers. Royal Park Rajapruek was established to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s Accession to the Throne on June 9, 2006, and his 80th Birthday Anniversary on December 5, 2007. It is an agricultural tourism destination, a center for learning about world horticultural science, and the culture of Chiang Mai and Thailand. There are exhibitions of various plant species, agricultural exhibitions, and more for learning by youths and the general public, for studying research, and as a meeting place for farmers. The area has beautifully landscaped gardens. Naming the Royal Park Rajapruek, Mom Chao Phisadej Ratchani, the president of the Royal Project Foundation, wrote a letter to His Majesty the King in 2009 requesting the name of the garden, which is the venue for the Royal Flora Expo 2006, as “Suan Luang Ratchapruek”. Later, Thanpuying Butri Viravaidya, the Deputy Royal Secretary, submitted the request to His Majesty the King, who graciously granted the name of the garden as “Suan Luang Ratchapruek” since 23 January 2010, and the English name was “Royal Park Rajapruek”. #RoyalParkRajapruek #VisitChiangMai
