Wat Chet Yot, Chiang Rai
📍.. Wat Chet Yot is a third-class royal temple, common type, located on Chet Yot Road, Wiang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province, within Chiang Rai Municipality.
🗒️.. Wat Chet Yot is believed to have been built during the Lanna Kingdom, or before King Mengrai established Chiang Rai.
.. The temple was abandoned after the Burmese invasion. Later, during the reign of King Rama III, Wat Chet Yot was renovated and restored, along with the return of the city's residents to establish the city.
📸.. The name Wat Chet Yot comes from the discovery of the foundations of seven chedis during the temple's restoration. Other legends suggest that there were seven abandoned temples in the area. Phra Khru Ba was unable to oversee them all, so he combined them into a single temple, constructing the Chet Yot Chedi, which he named Wat Chet Yot.
