Blue Temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand

#Thailand Attractions
The Blue Temple is a royal monastery located atop a hill in Chiang Mai's Mae Taeng district. Below lies a sacred cave revered by villagers, and it is surrounded by beautiful rural scenery.
In 1894, the then-abbot, Kruba Thut Aung, envisioned transforming the temple into a beautiful place of worship with religious teachings. This would attract more people to the temple and provide them with opportunities to learn about religion. He also wanted the temple to be a place where people could find inner peace, rather than a place for purely religious rituals.
Because Kruba Thut Aung was a highly virtuous monk, people respected him and donated money to support his transformation of the temple into an exquisite and magnificent place of worship, also housing the twelve zodiac pagodas.
He then renovated and expanded the temple using the Lanna architectural style, making it even more exquisite and magnificent.
While I don't believe what we see today is the original appearance after these renovations and expansions, as I can't find detailed historical information about the Blue Temple, I believe it has certainly undergone continuous renovations over the past century or so. However, it's reasonable to believe that what we see today has likely not changed much from what it was a century ago. #OverseasTravel #ThailandTravelStrategy #ThailandTravel #ThailandDestinations #ThailandPhotography #Chiang Mai, Thailand #ThailandTravel #Chiang Mai #Chiang Mai Travel #Chiang Mai Travel #Temple #Buddhism
