Among the three temples in Chiang Rai, the colorful 'Blue Temple', also known as Wat Rong Suea Ten, was created by Phuttha Karbkaew, a disciple of the White Temple's designer. The temple's exterior is a striking blue, with a blend of blue and gold, combining traditional Nalan style with modern art. Although not large in scale, it is quite impressive.
The Blue Temple may not be as famous as the Black and White Temples, but it has the advantage of being conveniently located just a 10-minute drive from downtown Chiang Rai. It is free to enter and has a free parking lot. The intricately carved relief murals and the magnificent exterior make the Blue Temple highly artistic.
Visiting on a sunny day with blue skies and white clouds, the Blue Temple stands out even more with its high-saturation blue, mixed with high-brightness colors like purple, gold, and red, making it look very bright and dazzling, like a pearl. It is truly an amazing piece of art.
