This historic shrine dates back to the Heian period and has been in existence for over 1,200 years.
In 869, Susanoo-no-Mikoto was enshrined to calm an epidemic. In 1616, Uka-no-Mitama-no-Kami, who was revered by Kaneda Gintaya-no-Masaaki, a shogunate vassal and 20th generation descendant of Kaneda Kodayu Yoritsugu, who defeated the nine-tailed fox monster, was enshrined. In 1624-1644, the feudal lord Kaneda Masaaki enshrined Izanami-no-Mikoto.
As a result, three deities are enshrined in each of the Nishi-Shinden, Naka-Shinden, and Higashi-den shrines.
The offering boxes also have the crests of each deity.
The Kemigawa Sakura Festival will be held from March 20th (Wed) to March 31st (Sun).
It's not yet the peak of cherry blossom season, but it seems that the blossoms are starting to bloom little by little.
You can also see peach blossoms near the parking lot on the east approach to the shrine.
