[Hokkaido] Spectacular views of snow and ice! "Chitose Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival"

Lake Shikotsu in Chitose, Hokkaido

It is a lake that does not freeze even in the harsh winter, and is famous for its "Lake Shikotsu Blue" color, which is second only to Lake Mashu in terms of transparency and depth.

The Chitose-Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival is an annual winter event at Lake Shikotsu, where ice formations are created by spraying water from the lake.

The scale is not that large, but each one is huge and well worth seeing!

The admission fee of 500 yen for adults is definitely worth seeing (and re-entry is allowed).

It was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but it has been successfully resumed since 2023.

Illumination is held from 16:30 to 20:00. It actually gets dark around 17:00.

There are no restaurants or souvenir shops in the park.
