Beijing 2.5h Must-Visit Autumn Hidden Gems

As a kid from the south,
I've always been curious about just how charming autumn in the north can be.
This time for the National Day holiday, I chose to travel in the opposite direction to Hohhot.
I have to say, southern autumn is subtle,
but autumn here is dazzlingly beautiful🍁
Half green, half yellow, like a slowly unfolding autumn oil painting.
It's truly stunning... even casual phone photos feel like wallpaper material!

🚄 How to get there by high-speed train:
Beijing North → Hohhot East, 2.5 hours direct
Once there, rent a car and start your self-driving adventure~
·
𝐃𝟏: Hohhot East - Hongzhao Jiulong Bay - Hongshiya
🔸Hongzhao Jiulong Bay:
The first half of the route has the richest autumn colors, with hills painted in golden yellow and orange-red hues. In the afternoon, I even encountered a flock of sheep crossing the road! They weren’t scared at all, leisurely hopping across in front of the car. That moment was so adorable, a really fun experience~
🔸Hongshiya:
On the way from Jiulong Bay to Hongshiya, you pass through villages. The narrow country roads add to the charm, and the paths through the fields are beautiful! Near Hongshiya, there’s a turn with a small stall selling coffee and snacks. Climb up the hill to see a stunning U-shaped road, perfect for photos! The Hongshiya scenic area is quieter in autumn, and just enjoying the view from outside is enough.
🎫 A little tip: If you don’t stop at Jiulong Bay, you can tell the staff at the entrance you’re going to Hongshiya, and you’ll get free access~

𝐃𝟐: Hadamen National Forest Park - Return trip
Hadamen National Forest Park:
The park has pristine birch and pine forests, each season offering different beautiful scenery. In autumn, the leaves change from green to yellow, then yellow to red, layer upon layer, like walking inside a painting. When the wind blows, you can hear the rustling of leaves, which is very soothing. You can also feed deer🦌 and see the “Swiss Roll” mountain views.
Currently, self-driving is not allowed inside the park, but the sightseeing bus is very comfortable. Just get off at each stop to walk around and enjoy. Remember to dress warmly! The mountain wind is strong and it’s really cold.
.
🌟 Short trip tips:
1️⃣ Large temperature difference between day and night; after sunset, the temperature drops quickly, so always carry a thick jacket🧥
2️⃣ For self-driving/rental cars, an SUV is recommended. Some small roads near Jiulong Bay occasionally require crossing shallow water.
