New Chitose Airport, the gateway to Hokkaido, isn't just a place to board a plane; it's a massive travel destination. Even though I arrived just hours before my flight, I felt like I was running out of time.

🍜 A Food Paradise

The airport was filled with Hokkaido's most iconic restaurants. In particular, **New Chitose Ramen Dojo** is a must-visit for ramen lovers. I was able to sample Hokkaido's three most famous ramen dishes: Sapporo miso ramen, Asahikawa shoyu ramen, and Hakodate shio ramen, all in one place. Eating ramen at the airport made me think, "This is Hokkaido!" until the very end of my trip.

🍦 A Dessert Paradise

When you think of Hokkaido, soft serve ice cream is a must. The creamy ice creams found throughout the airport were rich and savory. There were also stores selling famous confectionery brands like ROYCE and Shiroi Koibito, so I kept stopping to browse for souvenirs.

🎬 Entertainment and Experiences

Surprisingly, there was even a movie theater inside the airport. It was the perfect place to pass the time before departure. The Pokemon Center and Doraemon Sky Park for children were also popular with families. Even as my trip drew to a close, I felt like I was back in the amusement park.

I enjoyed a mini-trip inside the airport until the flight departure announcement sounded. New Chitose Airport wasn't just a "departure point," but a complete gift package that filled me with the flavors and delights of Hokkaido.
