| Qing Dynasty ancient architecture. Ju Ren Lou, also known as Chen Ju Ren Da Yuan, Chen Family Courtyard. Located in Suofanggou, Lianhua Village, Caijia Gang Town, Beibei District, Chongqing City, the courtyard was named and built by Chen Gengyu, the son of Chen Jiebai, a scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, in memory of his father Chen Jiebai's clean officialdom.
• Ju Ren Lou covers an area of about 10 mu, with a building area of 960 square meters, and is an eclectic architectural form of the 1930s. The Xieshan-style roof, the brick-wood structure of the Chuan-Dou style, and the row of buildings, the eight-character facing door is exquisitely constructed, and the column head is carved with various patterns. The courtyard forms a unique modern garden art building, which has both Chinese and Western architectural styles.
• The courtyard consists of a Siheyuan and a building with two floors and one bottom. There are many ancient trees and famous trees such as osmanthus, yellow osmanthus, ancient banyan, ginkgo, etc. There are 20 rooms in total, each room has a fireplace that is 1 meter high and 1 meter wide, and the ceiling is also carved with various white patterns, which are well preserved.
• There is a 300-year-old ancient ginkgo tree in the courtyard. In early winter, when the ginkgo leaves are yellow, around the ancient tree, large pieces of ginkgo leaves fall with the wind, the fallen leaves are colorful, forming a soft yellow carpet, attracting many citizens to come and watch and take pictures. Standing under the tree, the golden view is full of eyes, and it is interesting with the surrounding bricks and tiles, grass and trees, and there are a few more humanistic connotations. It seems to be telling the story of the wind and rain of this land for hundreds of years to every visitor.
The original appearance of the courtyard can be seen, thanks to the local government's protection. It is said that in 2006, the Middle Ring Expressway built by Chongqing was supposed to pass through Ju Ren Lou. After the relevant departments of the Caijia Group visited Ju Ren Lou for investigation and research, they felt that the building had a high cultural value. In order to fully protect Ju Ren Lou, the entire plan of the Caijia Group was adjusted. Ju Ren Lou was not demolished, and a cultural theme park with an area of more than 10 mu was built on the spot.
