Chongqing has become an increasingly popular destination in China for both domestic and international tourists. This unique megalopolis boasts unbelievable topography and a mind-blowing urban landscape 🤯—a must-see at least once in a lifetime. However, bear in mind that the city is home to around 32 million residents, and peak-season visitors can swell that number by over a million, making key areas extremely crowded, especially in the evenings. If possible, avoid visiting during Chinese national holidays for a more comfortable experience.
Next is a 3-day itinerary that captures the essence of Chongqing:
~Day 1~
Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street ➡️ Shibati Tradition Townscape ➡️ Tongyuanmen City Wall ➡️ Mountain City Trail.
These places are all walking distance from each other. And don't be afraid to explore narrow alleys and passages. That's the way to discover something amazing!
📍Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street. Linjiangmen or Jiaochangkou metro station (line 2). This is a bustling commercial street. Check out Park 108 (underground shopping mall) for food and brand stores.
📍Shibati Tradition Townscape. Enjoy a nice cup of coffee or tea at the many tea houses.
📍Tongyuanmen City Wall. You can climb the wall for free. It's not very long but you get a good sense of the city's crazy topography.
📍Mountain City Trail. Enjoy the evening views from here. There are many food stalls where you can have a snack.
~Day 2~
Chongqing People's Auditorium ➡️ Liziba Station ➡️ Arhat Temple ➡️ Hongya Cave
📍Chongqing People's Auditorium. The Metro station has the same name (line 10).
📍Liziba station (line 2) .
📍Arhat Temple. Xiaoshizi metro station (line 1).
📍Hongya Cave. Cross the bridge to fully appreciate it 🌉 .
~Day 3~
Kuixing Building ➡️ Chongqing Changjiang Cableway ➡️ Longmenhao Old Street ➡️ Xiahaoli
📍Kuixing building.
Near Linjiangmen metro station. You're on ground level and the 22nd floor at the same time 🤯🤣
📍Longmenhao and Xiaohaoli. They're right next to each other on the other side of the river (cross the Changjiang or Yangtze River).
