
The site of the Red Army's battle to cross the Wujiang River boundary river. The Wujiang River boundary river ferry , 45 kilometers away from Weng'an County, is the main ferry leading to Zunyi. The river is more than 120 meters wide , with cliffs on both sides stretching across the sky, forming the " Wujiang natural barrier . "
On December 31 , 1934 , after the Houchang Conference , the Central Red Army immediately decided to force a crossing of the Wujiang River. On January 1, 1935 , Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Zhou Enlai, and others led the Central Red Army. After three days and three nights of tenacious fighting, they forced a crossing of the Wujiang River, defeated the Guizhou Army, and advanced toward Zunyi.
