Huangjueya Old Street (黄桷垭老街), Chongqing
This old street is about 600 meters long and is full of Republic-style buildings, featuring green roofs, old cobblestone walkways and elegant Bayu houses (from the Republic era) that reflect the pioneering era. It is part of the “Huangge Ancient Road”, which connects central and southern China.
Walking Routes & Highlights 📍
• Explore the Old Street – Take a leisurely stroll through teahouses, shops, handicrafts and small cafes. It is perfect for taking photos or just relaxing.
• Hometown of ‘Sanmao’ – The home of a famous writer, renovated with old pine trees and has a small cafe inside. The entrance fee includes a souvenir. Minimum 10 yuan
• Laojun Cave – An ancient Taoist temple with a beautiful view of the city. You can pin it as a viewpoint.
• Huangge Ancient Road – A stone path along the mountainside Shady trees, peaceful atmosphere, drink tea and enjoy the view along the way.
Walk down the hill from Laojun Cave → Huangjueya Old Street → Huangge Ancient Road (about 3–4 hours)
