The Best Family-Friendly Resort Hotel in Chongqing's Chayuan Area

Last weekend in Chongqing, the first hotel I checked into after getting off the high-speed train was the Somerset Serviced Residence Chayuan, and I'm still reminiscing about it. It was my first time staying with this brand, and out of curiosity, I booked a unique camping-themed suite. To my surprise, it had an incredibly strong camping vibe—from the elevator lobby to the hallway, everything was decorated with camping-themed elements. The living room in the suite even had a tent set up inside! I can only imagine how much kids would love this place on a family trip.

The camping suite is very family-friendly in terms of size, nearly 60㎡. The circular layout ensures flexible space and interaction, while the door connecting the living room and bedroom allows adults to work without being disturbed by kids playing. Beyond the fun theme, as a serviced apartment, the room is fully equipped with kitchen facilities: a dual-function fridge, microwave, washer, pots, kettle, and even small details like dish soap and laundry detergent are provided. It’s clear they’ve thoughtfully considered the daily needs of long-term guests.

There were also some personal touches I loved—like the mini flame-shaped humidifier by the bed, handwritten cards and coffee cup souvenirs on the dining table, minimalist yet effective toiletries, and a dreamy cloud-shaped floor lamp... I often say I’m a sensitive and "picky" guest, but I could hardly find any flaws in this room.

The breakfast deserves special praise. The hot dishes included seafood, which was definitely a unique highlight of their breakfast spread. The presentation was also well-plated, making it visually appealing at first glance. The restaurant’s decor was vibrant, with low-saturation green and brown as the main color palette. The gentle morning sunlight streaming onto the glassware on the long table made for a delightful start to the day.

Finally, the facilities. Beyond the standard gym and laundry room, the first floor surprisingly had a media room, kids' play area, study lounge, and a leisure reception area. With all these combined, it’s hard to imagine any other hotel in the Chayuan area being more suitable for family vacations.
